A polished coastal base for four, close to Syracuse

Villa Ridag suits travellers who want the independence of a private villa without taking on a large country property. Its clean-lined interior is arranged around an open-plan living room, dining area and kitchen, with wide glass doors opening directly towards the pool and garden.

The two bedrooms are particularly well balanced: both have a 160 × 200 cm double bed and an en-suite shower room, so two couples need not negotiate an inferior room. It also works for a small family with older children, while the compact layout makes time at the villa easy to manage between visits to Syracuse and the coast.

The immediate shoreline at Punta Milocca is rocky rather than sandy and the villa has a garden view, not a sea view. Arenella’s sandy beach is approximately 3.5 kilometres away, and a car is essential for shopping, dining and exploring.

Best for: two couples, a couple wanting privacy and contemporary design, or a family of four with older children seeking a coastal base near Syracuse.

The principal planning decisions

The nearest shoreline is rocky

Punta Milocca is only 50 metres away, giving Villa Ridag genuine coastal positioning, but it is a rocky shore rather than a conventional sandy beach. Arenella’s sandy beach is approximately 3.5 kilometres away.

Both bedrooms have double beds

The two bedrooms are equal in size and each has a 160 × 200 cm double bed with an en-suite shower room. No twin-bed conversion is confirmed, which matters for families or friends who prefer separate beds.

The pool has a constant 1.20 m depth

The 3 × 13 metre saltwater pool is excellent for swimming lengths and is officially available throughout the year, although it is not described as heated. There is no shallow children’s section.

A car remains essential

The nearest restaurant is listed at 600 metres and a delicatessen at 2 kilometres, while the wider choice of shops and restaurants is in Syracuse. Treat Villa Ridag as a private touring base rather than a walk-everywhere stay.

On the Fanusa coast, with Syracuse and Ortigia close by

Villa Ridag lies at Punta Milocca in Fanusa, on the southern side of Syracuse and at the edge of the Plemmirio Protected Marine Area. The rocky shoreline is only 50 metres away, while Arenella offers a sandy beach approximately 3.5 kilometres from the villa.

Ortigia is approximately 11 kilometres away, making it easy to visit Syracuse for its market, archaeology, waterfront and evening atmosphere without staying in the city. Noto, Vendicari and Marzamemi can also be planned as distinct days out, leaving enough time to enjoy the pool and coast.
