Best for
Couples who enjoy the hotel
Culture, restaurants and countryside outings, with time left for a swim or a quiet afternoon in the garden.
Verona · gardens, pool & city views
Mornings in Verona, afternoons beside the pool and evenings looking across the city from a garden in the hills.
The ExpertoItaly view
Fra’ Lorenzo makes particular sense in summer. Spend the morning exploring Verona, then return to the olive trees, gardens and pool when you want a break from sightseeing. Staying here gives the hotel a proper place in your holiday.
The position is the key: close to the historic centre, but high on the Torricelle hillside. The outlook is generous and the grounds feel removed from the city below. Walking back involves a steep climb; guests who are comfortable with that, or happy to use the shuttle and taxis, gain a quieter place to stay.
We especially like it for couples exploring by car. Verona, Valpolicella and nearby villages can fill a varied week from one base, or provide the cultural beginning of a journey through Lake Garda and the Dolomites.
Our room choice: start with Deluxe for extra space, or Suite Green if a private patio and an independent entrance matter most.

Planning your stay
Best for
Culture, restaurants and countryside outings, with time left for a swim or a quiet afternoon in the garden.
Summer stays
Plan sightseeing and relaxation together. The seasonal pool makes a longer Verona stay particularly appealing.
Getting around
Complimentary private parking supports wider exploring. For city days, walking, the scheduled shuttle and taxis can be more useful than taking the car.
Worth knowing
The hill is steep. A car-free stay can work with planned transfers and taxis, but this is not an effortless level walk to and from the centre.
Rooms and suites
Traditional furnishings, timber beams and individual layouts give the rooms their character. Select for the view, living space or private terrace you will actually use.

22 m² · hillside outlook
The compact starting category, with a marble shower room and views towards Colle San Leonardo and its fort. Choose it for the setting and shared facilities; it does not offer the same city outlook as the higher categories.

25 m² · city & hill views
A traditional bedroom with views towards Verona and the hills, plus a bathroom with a large shower. A good choice for couples who expect to spend much of the day out.

35 m² · more room to settle in
Our preferred starting point for a longer stay: more floor space, individual furnishings and windows towards Verona. Choose it when you want a comfortable room for afternoons between outings.

40 m² · private patio
An independent entrance, a furnished patio and a small equipped kitchenette give this suite a different feel from the main-house bedrooms. A strong choice for privacy and your own outdoor sitting space.

60 m² · living space & kitchenette
A separate bedroom and sitting area, kitchenette and sofa bed suit a longer stay or a small family. Ask us to match the particular suite and access route to your needs.

65 m² · terrace overlooking Verona
Choose this for the terrace and separate sitting room, with two bathrooms and a sofa bed for additional guests. We confirm the sleeping arrangement when planning a stay for more than two.
Room layouts and positions vary. Tell us about stairs, walking or bathroom requirements so we can check the complete route to your room, the gardens and the pool before recommending an allocation.
Life at Fra’ Lorenzo

Pool & gardens
The saltwater pool is advertised from May to the end of September, with sunbeds and parasols. Olive trees, lawns and planted terraces give you places to read or enjoy an aperitivo between visits to the city.
Breakfast & light meals
Breakfast includes sweet and savoury choices and eggs to order. The bar serves snacks, sandwiches and salads, with terrace service and summer poolside service. Plan most dinners around Verona’s restaurants.
Walking & cycling
Complimentary mountain bikes and bicycle storage are available. The surrounding hills suit active guests; these are mountain bikes, so allow for the climb home. We can discuss a separate Verona cycling outing if you would like a planned route.

Location and logistics
Fra’ Lorenzo is on Via Castello San Felice, above Verona’s historic centre. The downhill walk connects a peaceful hillside stay with city sightseeing, but the return climb is substantial. Use our Verona city guide to shape days around its Roman, medieval and later history, museums and restaurants.
The complimentary shuttle runs at fixed times, subject to space. Arrange taxis when those times do not suit your plans. For an opera evening at the Arena di Verona, we plan the late return separately.
We arrange arrival transfers and, when useful for the wider route, car hire. Free private parking makes Fra’ Lorenzo a practical base for countryside outings without needing to change hotel each night.
Beyond Verona
A hire car opens up the countryside. Alternate outings with city visits and quieter hotel days, rather than trying to cover the region in a rush.
Wine country
Pair vineyard scenery with San Giorgio di Valpolicella for a village stop. When tastings are the focus, we arrange a driver so both of you can enjoy the wines.
Lake days
Choose one manageable part of Lake Garda for an outing. If you want several days by the water, a separate lakeside stay gives the holiday a more relaxed balance.
Village & vineyards
Make time for the walled village and the surrounding wine country. This works as a separate outing, with a relaxed lunch rather than several distant stops.
Walking & nature
Consider the village and waterfall park for a more active day. We match the visit to seasonal opening and the gradients and paths you enjoy.
Combine with
Two ways to build on your stay at Fra’ Lorenzo, with a worthwhile change of setting and time to enjoy each base.

Arco · car-free days around northern Garda
Move from Verona’s hillside gardens to a restored monastery in Arco, with contemporary design, a garden pool and a substantial spa. Both stays reward time at the hotel, with a distinct change from city culture to mountain-backed outdoor days.
Arco is inland from the lake: local buses make Riva del Garda and its ferry departure point easy outings. Connect the stays by arranged transfer or as part of a self-drive holiday; a car is not needed for locally focused days in Arco.
Combine your stay with Monastero Arx Vivendi →
Alta Badia & Lake Garda · wider self-drive holiday
Begin with Fra’ Lorenzo, continue to Alta Badia for mountain walks, Ladin villages and long lunches, then settle beside Lake Garda. The sequence gives each stay a clear purpose: culture, mountains and time by the water.
With around two weeks or longer, three bases can work well. A hire car gives flexibility between them; mountain and lake days can still be enjoyed without driving when the hotel and seasonal connections are chosen carefully.
Explore Alta Badia for your wider holiday →Choose your mountain base from our Alta Badia collection and your final setting from our Lake Garda holidays. For ten nights, we would usually favour two bases. Our Verona, Merano & Lake Garda itinerary offers another example of how a city, mountain and lake journey can be paced.
