Harbour connections and evenings in town
From Hotel Mea, walk into Lipari for dinner, join a boat excursion and return to a swim overlooking the bay.
Explore Lipari and the Aeolian Islands, swim above Marina Lunga and stroll into town for dinner, with sea-view terraces for leisurely mornings and afternoons.
A boat outing in the morning, a swim above Marina Lunga and dinner among Lipari’s lively streets: Hotel Mea makes it easy to enjoy both the islands and the hotel.
The elevated setting looks across the bay towards Lipari Castle. The port, historic centre, shops and restaurants are within walking distance, while the panoramic pool and private terraces invite you to slow down between outings.
We recommend five or six nights for a first Aeolian visit, with time to explore Lipari, visit a neighbouring island and leave an afternoon free for the pool.
Lipari offers a busy harbour, restaurants and plenty of ways to explore the archipelago. Salina brings greener landscapes, smaller villages and a gentler pace; combine the two for a varied island holiday.

Enjoy terraces, gardens and Salina’s green volcanic landscape at this small hotel, as a second island stay or an alternative to Lipari.
Compare Hotel Principe di SalinaSpend your days between island outings, Lipari’s old town and the pool, with the freedom to explore without a car.

Alternate mornings exploring with time beside the pool and a quiet drink on your terrace.
The elevated position gives Hotel Mea its outlook. Keep these details in mind when choosing your room and arranging arrival.
Four nights allows time for Lipari and a boat outing. Five or six adds leisurely pool afternoons; a week leaves more room for beaches and neighbouring islands.
Choose a Superior for its sea-view balcony, a Comfort for a larger room overlooking the gardens, or a Suite for a separate sitting room and private terrace.
19–25 m² | Double or twin beds | Up to 3 guests | Sea-view balcony
Light interiors open onto a balcony overlooking the sea. On the first and second floors, these rooms bring the panorama into your stay.
We recommend a Superior for couples who would enjoy a quiet morning outside or a drink on their balcony after a boat trip.
A natural choice for sea views and private outdoor space.
24–31 m² | Double bed and extra single bed | Up to 3 guests | Garden-view balcony
Comfort rooms offer more indoor space, Moorish-inspired furnishings and a balcony looking towards the gardens.
They suit a couple who enjoys a generous room or a party of three sharing a double bed and an extra single bed. Bathrooms have a shower or whirlpool bath.
Choose Comfort for space and a garden outlook.
32–40 m² | Bedroom and sitting room | Sofa bed | Private terrace
A separate bedroom and living room with a sofa bed give couples or small families space to settle in. The private terrace offers another place to relax after exploring.
Suites have sea or garden views. Tell us who is travelling so we can match the sleeping arrangements and outlook to your party.
Enjoy separate living space on a longer stay or family holiday.
Give yourself time to enjoy the hotel as well as the archipelago: a swim, a poolside lunch or an evening on Chimera’s terrace can be as much a part of the holiday as a day exploring.
The panoramic pool looks across the bay towards Lipari Castle. Settle on a lounger after sightseeing or spend an unhurried afternoon between the water and your book.
A shallower second pool has seven hydromassage stations. The pools are unheated and open during the hotel’s season, so the water can feel cooler early or late in the year.
Pool towels are provided. There is no hotel spa or gym, but external treatments can be arranged through reception.
Chimera serves Aeolian and Mediterranean cooking, with an indoor dining room and panoramic outdoor terrace. At lunchtime, order a light meal from the poolside service.
On other evenings, stroll into Lipari for a trattoria dinner, a drink by the harbour or a wander through the old town.
Enjoy an easy first dinner at the hotel after your hydrofoil journey, then explore Lipari’s restaurants over the following days.
Visit the castle and archaeological museum, spend time by the sea at Canneto or Acquacalda, and explore the volcanic coast by boat.

Allow a day for Lipari itself and choose one or two island or coastal outings, leaving time for swimming and leisurely evenings.
Hotel Mea overlooks Marina Lunga, approximately 400–500 metres from the port and centre. Walk down for the shops, restaurants and evening passeggiata; the return is uphill.
Arrive by hydrofoil and settle into a hotel near the island’s main port, with boat excursions and Lipari’s restaurants within easy reach.
Read our guide to Lipari’s history, food, beaches and island landscapesMost ExpertoItaly journeys reach Lipari through Milazzo. We can arrange the mainland transfer, hydrofoil tickets and a short transfer from Lipari port to Hotel Mea.
Request the hotel’s arrival or departure shuttle in advance; it carries an extra charge, payable locally. A transfer makes arrival with luggage easier than walking uphill.
Head into Lipari for shopping, dinner or the evening passeggiata. The centre and port are a short walk downhill.
For the uphill return, a taxi is useful after a long outing or if you have limited mobility.
Visit the old town and archaeological area on foot, then take a bus, taxi, boat trip or scooter to the wider island.
A hire car is unnecessary for a town-based stay. We can help arrange transport for the places you would like to visit.
Sea conditions can affect hydrofoils and boat services. Allow a generous margin before a flight or other important onward connection.
For an early flight, we recommend a final night on the mainland so you can finish the holiday without a rushed crossing.
Pair the Aeolian Islands with Palermo’s markets and architecture, Taormina’s views and Greek theatre, or a second island stay on Salina.
