Active couples
Walk, cycle, then settle in
Spend a full day in the mountains or choose a shorter outing and a long lunch. The pool, spa and dining give both kinds of day an enjoyable finish.
Corvara · Alta Badia · The Dolomites
Mountain walks, generous half-board dining and a spa to return to. A family-run hotel above Corvara for active couples who enjoy good food and time to take in the view.
The ExpertoItaly view
We like Sporthotel Panorama for the balance it brings to a summer holiday. Set out on a walk from the hotel, stop for lunch in the mountains, then return for a swim and dinner. The setting remains part of the day when you are sitting on your balcony or at a terrace table.
The Costamoling family has welcomed guests here for three generations. Its connection with Alta Badia shows in practical route advice, the food and wine, and Punta Trieste, the family’s mountain hut on the Pralongià plateau.
For couples, our starting point is a Deluxe Panorama room or Panorama Suite. Both make the outlook part of the stay, while the larger suite gives you more space for leisurely afternoons.
Our suggested stay: seven nights, with walking or cycling days balanced by shorter outings, mountain lunches and time at the hotel.

Who it suits
Active couples
Spend a full day in the mountains or choose a shorter outing and a long lunch. The pool, spa and dining give both kinds of day an enjoyable finish.
Food & wine
South Tyrolean cooking, the hotel’s wine cellar and a lunch at Punta Trieste make food part of the reason to choose this mountain base.
Families with older children
Walking, cycling, swimming and tennis suit families who enjoy doing things together. The Panorama Family Suite adds a separate twin bedroom for the children.
Rooms & suites
These main-hotel categories put the panoramic setting at the centre of the stay. The most useful upgrades offer more living space, separate sleeping rooms or a private sauna.

A panoramic starting point
A double room in the main hotel, with a small sitting area, shower room and panoramic balcony. A sensible choice for couples who want the mountain outlook and somewhere to sit outside.
More room for a week
A balcony with panoramic views, living space and a walk-in wardrobe, with both a bath and a shower. We would favour it for a longer stay when comfortable time in the room matters.
Your own sauna
A private sauna, shower room and a small living area separated by a sliding door, plus a panoramic balcony. This is the worthwhile upgrade for couples who particularly enjoy private spa time.
Two sleeping rooms
A double bedroom connected to a bedroom with two separate beds, with one shared bathroom containing a bath and shower. The panoramic balcony and separate sleeping spaces make it our first family choice.
Food & wine
Half board is a strong part of Panorama’s appeal: buffet breakfast, an evening menu of five to seven courses, and afternoon cakes, strudel and fruit. You can spend the middle of the day exploring and choose a mountain lunch without needing to return to the hotel.
Dinner brings together South Tyrolean and international dishes in traditionally furnished dining rooms. The wine cellar gives you a reason to explore regional bottles alongside wines from elsewhere in Italy and beyond.
For a day closer to the hotel, Cialdira Ladina opens for lunch in summer. Lunch and wine are additional to half board; full board is also available at a supplement.

A mountain lunch with a family connection
Willy Costamoling’s hut sits at 2,028 metres, with local dishes served on the terrace or in its Ladin parlour. Make lunch here part of a walking day, with time to enjoy the mountains and the wine selection. Meals and tastings at the hut are paid for separately.

Pool & spa
The heated panoramic indoor pool, whirlpool and relaxation rooms give you a good reason to return before dinner. A morning swim can be as much part of the routine as an afternoon spent unwinding after a walk.
The sauna selection includes Finnish, hay and infrared facilities, alongside a steam bath and Kneipp basins. Use of the pool and wellness facilities is included in the stay; massages and treatments are booked and charged separately.
For couples who would like their own sauna, choose the Suite Panorama Superior described above.
Summer days
Build the week around Alta Badia’s scenery, with room for an outing that lasts all day and another that ends with lunch and a quiet afternoon.

On foot
The team offers route advice and a weekly programme of guided walks and mountain-bike outings. Walking poles and backpacks can be borrowed free of charge.
On two wheels
Choose road cycling over the Dolomite passes or mountain-bike routes through the surrounding landscape. The hotel helps organise paid bicycle and equipment hire through rental businesses in Corvara.
Closer to the hotel
Use of the hotel’s tennis court is included in summer. The nine-hole golf course is less than a kilometre away, with green fees paid separately.
Location & getting around
Sporthotel Panorama stands on the hillside above Corvara. The village’s shops, cafés and restaurants are below the hotel, while walking routes begin at the property. The elevated position is central to its outlook and to a stay built around the mountains.
A hire car adds flexibility for different valleys, scenic passes and independent days out. It also works well when combining Alta Badia with Lake Garda. Keep the city part of a wider holiday car-free, then collect the car for the mountain stage.
A car-free holiday works well when focused on local walks and hotel life, with private transport arranged for wider excursions. ExpertoItaly can organise arrival from a railway station or your previous accommodation and the onward journey.

Art, canals & walking
Combine the Dolomites with a city explored on foot and by boat. Allow a proper travel day between the mountains and Venice, then enjoy several nights in the city.
Explore Venice holiday ideasFor seven nights, stay in Alta Badia. For ten nights, combine a mountain week with three nights in a city; for twelve to fourteen nights, divide the holiday between the mountains and Lake Garda. Two bases are usually enough, with a third only when the route and length of stay justify it.
