Travelling to Italy from the UK

Due to the Covid 19 health crisis, there are rules and restrictions on travel to Italy, with some specific differences depending on the country of origin or destination.

Currently, British travellers wishing to travel to Italy must comply with the following obligations:

Fully vaccinated

  • take a negative molecular or antigen swab test in the 48 hours to entering Italy with a negative result.
  • fill in the Digital Passenger Locator Form before entering Italy. The form replaces the self-declaration made to the transport operator.
  • inform the local health authority immediately of your arrival in Italy. See: COVID-19 Regional toll-free numbers and information.

Unvaccinated

All the above plus

  • travel to your final destination in Italy by private transport only.
  • undergo 5 days self quarantine.
  • must take another test at the end of the quarantine period.

COVID-19 Green Certificate

Certificates issued by the health authorities of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (including Gibraltar and the Isle of Man, Channel Islands and British bases on the island of Cyprus) are equivalent to those of the European Union for access to activities and services on the Italian territory such as indoor restaurants, museums and cinemas. They can be presented in paper or digital format.
