A hillside retreat for food, gardens and time together

Castel Fragsburg suits couples who want a hotel-led holiday above Merano, with selected outings rather than a different excursion every day. Its former hunting-lodge setting, individually furnished accommodation and gardens make it a distinctive choice for a summer or autumn stay.

This is a retreat above the town. We plan it differently from a central Merano hotel, balancing time at the property with visits to gardens, vineyards and the town itself.

Individual suites, meaningful differences

Junior Suite

Approximately 28–35 m², with a sitting area and balcony. The outlook can be towards the vineyards or the Texel mountains, so we confirm the view that matters to you.

Suite Deluxe

Approximately 40–50 m², with individual furnishings and a balcony or terrace. Choose this for extra space during a longer stay, with the bathroom arrangement checked for the specific suite.

Suite Royale

Approximately 65–85 m², with a balcony or terrace and more generous living space. Some have an infrared sauna; this is not a feature to assume across the whole category.

Soul Luxury Suite

A distinct suite of approximately 85 m², with a spacious terrace, separate balcony, panoramic bath and private infrared sauna. It suits a special occasion when these features will be a central part of the stay.

Dining and spa time shape the experience

The heated outdoor pool and gardens invite a slower day. Spa facilities and bookable treatments add another way to spend time at the hotel, without needing to make a health or therapeutic promise.

The Orangerie is the restaurant used for the optional half-board dinner arrangement. Prezioso offers a separate gourmet dining experience. We make that distinction clear in the proposal and arrange any special meal in advance, subject to opening dates and availability.

Merano by rail, Fragsburg by road

Merano’s railway connections are useful, but the hotel still requires a road transfer up from the town. A car-free stay works best with an arranged arrival and selected transfers for outings, rather than expecting to walk into town each evening.

A hire car adds worthwhile freedom for gardens, villages and the wider wine-growing area. It can be collected after a city stay, or used only for this stage. For a wine-tasting day, we can arrange a driver.

Tell us about steps, slopes and walking distance when we choose the room and excursions, so the elevated setting remains a pleasure.

A different side of the mountains

Lake Garda gives a natural change from hillside gardens to lakeside days. Verona can add an art-city stay along a longer route.

For keen walkers, Alta Badia provides a higher mountain setting with a different style of holiday. We usually start with two bases over 10–14 nights, allowing Fragsburg enough time to be enjoyed in its own right.
