Stay in Borghetto for its river, old bridges and restaurants, then return to your own garden setting between outings. Relais Villa Borghetto combines a central village address with lawns, mature planting and a guest pool: somewhere to enjoy staying in as well as going out.

The Bertaiola family developed the house from the 1970s onwards, working with local craftspeople. Its rooms reflect different stages of that story, from original interiors to more recent additions. This is an individual family property, and choosing the right room is part of choosing the holiday.

We particularly like it for a spring or autumn break with Verona, Mantova and southern Lake Garda within the sightseeing plan. Leave some days lighter, with a cycle ride, a good lunch and time back in the garden.

Our starting point: four or five nights for local exploring, or three nights as a slower finish after the Dolomites.

Choose this for its large open terrace and elevated village panorama. It is a strong choice when you will spend time sitting outside.

Windows frame the river, wooden bridge, castle and garden. Worth considering when the outlook matters more than a terrace.

A large covered terrace looks towards Borghetto. A good option for couples who want outdoor sitting space as part of the room.


Other choices: Uccellino has a large private panoramic terrace. La Regina is on the ground floor and is worth discussing when fewer stairs matter. Il Bagno Blu retains its original decorative 1970s bathroom, a detail to consider if you prefer a more contemporary interior.

Tell us if stairs, a shower or a particular outlook affects your choice. We confirm the complete access route and exact room allocation before booking; a ground-floor bedroom alone does not establish step-free access.

Explore from one well-chosen base

Borghetto’s river setting is part of everyday life here.

Borghetto makes a satisfying base in its own right. Cycle a manageable stretch of the Mincio route, visit Parco Giardino Sigurtà in Valeggio or arrange a cooking class or wine tasting. Bicycle and e-bike hire can be organised locally.

For fuller days out, choose Verona for city sights, Mantova for art and palaces, or southern Lake Garda for time beside the water. These are local excursions from this base, separate from the overnight combinations below.

Private parking is available. A car is useful for regular independent outings; for a more settled stay, we can arrange transfers from Verona or Peschiera del Garda railway station and transport for selected excursions. Borghetto itself has no station.

Village dining is accessible on foot. Valeggio and the castle are uphill from the riverside village, so we plan walking and cycling around your mobility and interests.

Two contrasting holiday combinations

Choose one complementary stop for a two-centre holiday, with enough time in each place. These suggestions involve an overnight stay elsewhere, rather than adding more day trips.

Alta Badia, then a gentler finish in Borghetto

Begin in Alta Badia for Dolomite walks, mountain views and Ladin food, then drive south to Borghetto for three quieter nights before departure through Verona. A self-drive route gives flexibility between the two stays; we can also arrange a private transfer. Mountain activities are matched to the season.

Padova and Borghetto: art, gardens and village evenings

Stay in Padova for Giotto’s frescoes, markets and the botanical garden, then change pace beside the Mincio. Travel by rail to Verona and continue by arranged road transfer; car hire can begin for the Borghetto stage if you want independent excursions.
