Villa Colledi is not a conventional polished villa. Its appeal comes from the way original stone buildings, contemporary interventions, large-scale artworks and a working studio have been brought together around a rural courtyard.
The substantial pool gives unhurried villa days a proper focus, while Ragusa, Donnafugata and the coast can all be reached by car. It works best for travellers who value architectural character, privacy and generous shared space over uniform hotel-style interiors.
Best for: two families with older children or teenagers, multigenerational groups and design-conscious friends. A car is essential, and the stairs, changes of level and apparently unfenced pool require thought for very young children or guests with limited mobility.
Contemporary interventions sit deliberately within the old agricultural courtyard.

Before you choose it
The published capacity is ten guests plus one additional place. In practice, the characterful, varied sleeping spaces are more naturally suited to families and compatible groups of eight to ten than to five couples expecting equivalent bedrooms.
The supplier headline gives five bedrooms, but the room-by-room description appears to enumerate an additional sleeping room across the main house and annexe. We will reconfirm the exact rooms and bed preparation for your party before booking.
The nearest shops, restaurants and everyday services are approximately 8 km away. This is a rural driving base for Ragusa and the south-eastern coast, not a walkable village stay. Private parking is provided.
The 14 × 5 metre pool appears unfenced, and the property includes stairs, steps and uneven stone surfaces. Air conditioning is not listed, so heat-sensitive summer travellers should discuss comfort and room choice with us.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Published as five bedrooms
The principal accommodation is spread over the ground and first floors, with a mix of double, twin and smaller loft sleeping spaces. The rooms are deliberately individual rather than uniform, and the exact bed preparation should be reconfirmed for each travelling party.
Four shower rooms
The published layout includes four shower rooms in total, combining shared bathrooms in the main house with en-suite facilities for selected rooms and the annexe. Internal stairs, external steps and reduced headroom in the loft should be considered.
Time at the villa
Villa Colledi rewards a slower rhythm: swim, cook and eat together, then let different parts of the group find their own corner among the courtyard, terraces and art-filled rooms.
The 14 × 5 metre pool has a depth range of approximately 0.20–1.90 metres and is scheduled to open from April to October.
The restored agricultural buildings create several outdoor zones for sitting and moving between the main house and annexe. Stone surfaces and limited shade are part of the rural character.
The kitchen includes a five-burner hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, espresso machine, two fridges and a freezer.
Stone rooms, bold artworks and informal sitting and dining areas give the group several places to gather without turning the house into a conventional hotel-style interior.
The separate annexe and creative spaces add flexibility and a distinct sense of place, especially for a group that appreciates art, architecture and some independence.
A welcome breakfast basket, midweek cleaning and linen and towel changes are included. A cook and additional housekeeping can be requested at extra cost.

Location
Villa Colledi sits in open countryside near Ragusa and Donnafugata, among dry-stone walls and the broad agricultural landscape of south-eastern Sicily. Its pool and generous grounds make quiet villa days an important part of the stay.
By car, the holiday can move between Ragusa’s Baroque streets, the castle at Donnafugata, Modica and Scicli, then the sandy coast at Punta Secca and Marina di Ragusa. Siracusa is a more substantial day out; the value of this base lies in alternating culture, coast and rest rather than trying to cover the island.
The pool sits within open Ragusa countryside framed by dry-stone walls.
From the villa
The most satisfying stays balance villa time with a small number of purposeful outings. These guides help shape days that respect the driving distances and the different rhythms of town and coast.
Baroque city
Use Ragusa Ibla for honey-coloured streets, churches and an unhurried meal, then treat Donnafugata as a separate country-house visit rather than trying to add another major town.
Baroque landscape
Modica and Scicli are close enough to choose according to interests and energy. One town explored properly often works better than rushing through several UNESCO centres in a single day.
Coast and countryside
Alternate a sandy-beach morning at Punta Secca or Marina di Ragusa with the inland stone towns. The contrast between coast, farmland and Baroque architecture is the point of this part of Sicily.
Longer cultural day
At 100 km, Siracusa deserves a deliberate full day rather than a casual detour. It may also work better as the next base in a wider itinerary, especially if archaeology and evening life on Ortigia matter.
