Cliff-top villa in Portopalo, South-East Sicily
A contemporary five-bedroom coastal villa with a private saltwater pool, a separate two-bedroom apartment and open views towards Capo Passero, close enough to walk into Portopalo.

Villa Tasso’s defining value is its elevated marine setting. The pool, terraces and broad windows look across the rocky shoreline towards the island of Capo Passero, while the centre of Portopalo is approximately 600 metres away. This combination is unusual: the villa feels private and exposed to the landscape without placing every evening meal behind a car journey.
The layout also works more flexibly than a conventional five-bedroom house. Three double bedrooms sit in the main villa, while an adjoining apartment has its own entrance, living room, kitchenette, double bedroom, bunk bedroom and shower room. Two families or a multigenerational party can remain together while preserving a degree of independence.
Best for: families with older children, two families sharing, multigenerational groups and design-conscious clients who value sea views, outdoor living and reasonable access to a small town.
Worth knowing before you book
Four bedrooms have double beds; the fifth is a bunk room in the apartment. Villa Tasso sleeps ten, but it is strongest for six adults with children or for two families who can allocate the bunk room naturally.
Its own entrance, living room, kitchenette, double bedroom, bunk room and shower room give grandparents or a second family more privacy. The six-person option uses the main house only.
A delicatessen and restaurant are listed around 300 metres away and central Portopalo around 600 metres. A car is still necessary for sandy beaches, larger shops and wider exploration.
The pool has a uniform depth of 1.20 metres and no shallow section. The supplier does not document fencing around the pool or cliff edge, so this is better suited to older children than toddlers.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Main house · 3 double rooms
All three main-house bedrooms are on the first floor. One double has an en-suite shower room; the other two doubles share a second shower room. A further bathroom or WC is on the ground floor.
Independent apartment · 2 rooms
The ground-floor apartment has a separate entrance, living room, kitchenette, one double bedroom, one twin room with bunk beds and one shower room. It is useful family accommodation rather than two equivalent adult bedrooms.
Accessibility: the supplier lists disabled access, but the main house bedrooms are upstairs and no detailed accessible route or bathroom specification is provided. ExpertoItaly will verify individual requirements before recommending the villa.
Time at the villa
Villa Tasso is worth choosing when the coastal setting will be part of the holiday rather than simply a backdrop between day trips.
The private 4 × 8 metre pool is 1.20 metres deep throughout and is stated to open from 1 March to 30 November. It suits relaxed cooling-off and older children better than serious lap swimming or toddler play.
Approximately 225 m² of terrace, a solarium, loungers, outdoor seating, a barbecue and an external shower create several places to follow the light and sea view through the day.
The main open-plan kitchen and the apartment kitchenette make the separate accommodation genuinely useful. Two ovens, two fridges, a dishwasher, freezer and gas hob support a full party.
Final cleaning, a weekly four-hour clean, weekly linen and towel changes and a local welcome basket are included. A cook, transfers and boat experiences can be arranged at additional cost.
Villa amenities
Location
Villa Tasso stands in Contrada Pizzuta, just beyond Portopalo di Capo Passero. The outlook is expansive and coastal, yet the practical advantages are unusually good for a private villa: an everyday food shop and restaurant are listed approximately 300 metres away and the centre of Portopalo approximately 600 metres away.
The rocky shoreline is close below the property, reached by a footpath, but this should not be presented as a private sandy beach. A sandy beach is approximately 800 metres away, while Carratois, Isola delle Correnti and Vendicari give the week a choice of different coastal days by car.

From the villa
Villa Tasso works best as a seven-night coastal base. Keep proper time at home and use these outings to add landscape, baroque towns and a change of pace without turning the week into a daily touring schedule.
Portopalo and Isola delle Correnti
Start with Portopalo, its harbour and the immediate coast, then choose a sandy beach or the meeting point of the Ionian and Mediterranean seas at Isola delle Correnti. This is the day that makes best use of the villa’s southern position.
Marzamemi and Vendicari
Walk or swim at Vendicari when the temperature is comfortable, then continue to Marzamemi for its compact lanes, waterfront and dinner. The combination gives the day shape without filling it with repeated short stops.
Noto
Noto is approximately 20 kilometres away and works particularly well after a morning by the pool. Arrive once the strongest heat has eased, take time over the historic centre and remain for dinner rather than adding another town.
Siracusa or the inland baroque towns
Siracusa rewards a focused day divided between archaeology and Ortigia. Alternatively, make Modica and Ragusa Ibla the inland outing. Trying to combine all three would sacrifice the measured pace that makes this villa work.
