Campania Artecard: Is It Worth It?

Compare the principal passes, current admission prices and transport rules to see whether Artecard will genuinely save you money.

In this article

The short answer

It saves money only when it fits the itinerary

Campania Artecard can reduce admission and transport costs, but it is not an automatic bargain. The answer depends on which sites you will genuinely visit, whether your journeys are covered and whether any traveller already qualifies for reduced or free admission.

Naples 3 Days€27 · three city admissions and urban transport
Campania 3 Days€41 · two regional admissions and regional transport
365 Lite€26 · one visit to each of 34 listed sites, without transport

Three products worth testing

The following standard prices and allowances were checked against the official Artecard pages on 4 September 2026. Reconfirm them before purchase because prices, participating sites and access conditions can change.

City and transport

Naples 3 Days — €27

The first three eligible Naples admissions are included, followed by reductions at further participating sites. The pass also covers the specified UnicoCampania urban network.

Region and transport

Campania 3 Days — €41

Two different eligible admissions across Campania are included, followed by reductions at further participating sites. Eligible regional UnicoCampania transport is included.

Admissions without transport

365 Lite — €26

One admission to each of 34 listed cultural sites is included during its validity. It can be excellent value on a short stay when admissions matter more than transport.

Check the current products on the official Artecard pass page and the specific 365 Lite page.

Transport is not universal. The official regional-pass terms exclude Alibus, SITA Sud services for Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi, and the special EAV Pompeii–Vesuvius bus. Official wording also connects included transport with reaching participating cultural sites. Do not treat the pass as unrestricted travel throughout Campania.

What the principal attractions cost separately

This is a deliberately short list of the places most likely to influence a Naples or Campania itinerary. It uses standard adult admission and excludes online presale fees, optional areas and specially ticketed exhibitions.

Attraction Adult admission Naples 3 Days Campania 3 Days 365 Lite
National Archaeological Museum €20 Included Included Included
Royal Palace of Naples €15 Included Included Included
Capodimonte Museum €10 Included Included Included
Certosa di San Martino €6 Included Included Included
Pompeii — ancient city €20 Not included Included Included
Herculaneum €16 Not included Included Included
Royal Palace of Caserta — palace and park €18 Not included Included Included

Where the saving begins

Break-even examples

The comparison below values only the included admissions. Transport is added only where it is needed to move the regional pass beyond its break-even point. Later Artecard reductions are not included because the amount can vary by site.

Pass and example Separate admissions Pass price Result before transport
Naples 3: MANN only €20 €27 Separate ticket is €7 cheaper
Naples 3: MANN + San Martino €26 €27 €1 below break-even
Naples 3: MANN + Capodimonte €30 €27 Pass saves €3 before transport
Naples 3: MANN + Royal Palace €35 €27 Pass saves €8 before transport
Naples 3: MANN + Royal Palace + Capodimonte €45 €27 Pass saves €18 before transport
Campania 3: Pompeii + Herculaneum €36 €41 Needs more than €5 of covered transport to save
Campania 3: Pompeii + Caserta €38 €41 Needs more than €3 of covered transport to save
Campania 3: Pompeii + MANN €40 €41 More than €1 of covered transport produces a saving
365 Lite: MANN only €20 €26 Separate ticket is €6 cheaper
365 Lite: MANN + San Martino €26 €26 Exact break-even
365 Lite: MANN + Capodimonte €30 €26 Pass saves €4
365 Lite: Pompeii + Herculaneum €36 €26 Pass saves €10

What the numbers show: Naples 3 Days can begin saving from the second substantial city admission. Campania 3 Days usually depends on covered regional transport as well as its two admissions. The admission-only 365 Lite can be the strongest-value option when its participating-site list matches the itinerary.

Age concessions can reverse every calculation. Under-18s enter many Italian state museums and archaeological sites free of charge. Eligible visitors aged 18 to 24 may pay the statutory reduced rate, subject to nationality or reciprocity rules. Private, civic and church-managed sites follow their own conditions. Check each traveller separately through the Ministry of Culture guidance.

The common trap

A pass is not a reservation

Artecard provides an admission entitlement; it does not guarantee space at a timed or capacity-controlled site. Confirm the current access procedure for every principal visit before activating the pass.

Named tickets and visitor limits

Pompeii

Pompeii uses personal tickets and a daily visitor limit. Follow the archaeological park’s current Artecard entry instructions and reservation guidance even when the pass covers admission.

Mandatory Artecard reservation

Campi Flegrei

For the Baia baths, Cuma, the Flavian Amphitheatre and the archaeological museum in Baia Castle, Artecard users must currently reserve a free ticket through the Musei Italiani app. Check current openings before travelling.

If a reservation is mandatory, secure it first and retain the confirmation alongside the Artecard QR code.

Digital setup

How activation works

The pass is digital and can be purchased through the official website or Artecard app. The official instructions require manual activation when the first eligible museum or transport journey is used. Two QR codes then appear: one for cultural sites and one for transport.

Once activated, the validity period cannot be paused. The official three-day guidance treats the pass as expiring at 23:59 on the third day, rather than as a pausable 72-hour allowance. Download it in advance, allow time for it to appear in the account and keep the phone charged.

Sensible sequence: choose the itinerary → check closing days → reserve capacity-controlled sites → buy and download the pass → activate it only when the planned period begins.

Before purchase

A final five-minute check

  • Confirm the exact pass name, current price and number of included admissions.
  • Check that every intended attraction remains on that pass’s participating-site list.
  • Count only transport journeys covered by the stated network and purpose.
  • Verify reservations, closing days and temporary access restrictions on each attraction’s own website.
  • Compare concessions for every traveller before buying identical passes for the whole party.

Pass rules and selected attraction prices were fact-checked against official sources on 4 September 2026.

Plan the itinerary before the pass

Use the Naples travel guide to choose the city days and the day-trip guide to choose one worthwhile excursion. Only then compare the current official Artecard products.
