Nerano

Nerano, located halfway between the Amalfi Coast and the Sorrento Coast, is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The small town, guarded by its borders, basks blissfully in the sun. Now it's just tourism and silence, but it used to be home to great emperors and mythical temples. Nerano's named after Roman Emperor Tiberio Nerone, who liked to hang out around here.

The place is still beautiful after all these years, and the sea is so clear and full of different kinds of sea life that it was made a protected marine area in 1997.

Nerano is also home to historical architecture, like the small Church of San Salvatore and other chapels in the area, as well as high-level gastronomy that has given Italy the fabulous Spaghetti alla Nerano. Have you heard of it?

Overview

#BEACHES - Marina del Cantone, Recommone Bay and Ieranto Bay are some of the most beautiful beaches around here.
It's also a popular destination for divers, and it's a safe place for swimmers who want to sunbathe without giving up the comfort of the bathing establishments and the good food of the local restaurants.

#HIKING THE BAY OF IERANTO - The FAI Fondo Ambiente Italia sometimes organises walks at sunset in July and August to enjoy the Bay of Ieranto's beauty.

A beautiful sunset hike along the paths of Monte San Costanzo to the top of Punta Campanella promontory, with a 360 degree panorama of the gulfs of Naples and Salerno.

#BOAT TRIPS - The Cooperativa Sant'Antonio organises private and group excursions to Capri and Positano with free time for swimming and visiting.

#KAYAKING - Chasing Syrens' see-through kayak tours will give you a 360-degree adventure in the Punta Campanella Marine Nature Reserve - visit small, hidden coves and caves, snorkel in crystal clear waters (with the chance to see lots of different fish), and spend some free time swimming and relaxing. The highlight is the tour to the Ieranto Bay.

#WHERE TO EAT

Quattro Passi  - The Quattro Passi restaurant, which overlooks the sea in Marina del Cantone, is one of six restaurants in the Campania region with two Michelin stars. Quattro Passi has a tasting menu for 200 euros and an à la carte menu.

Taverna del Capitano - Alfonso Caputo is the chef, and his sister Mariella is the sommelier. They've created a restaurant that symbolises the coast, and for over 50 years, it has enchanted people from all over the world with amazing dishes enjoyed in front of a wonderful panorama.

Lo Scoglio - A historic restaurant in Amalfi style, perched on the rocks and supported by stilts, furnished simply and carefully. You can taste all the best local delicacies here, from vegetables - from the own garden - to fresh fish of the day, among raw seafood and traditional first courses made excellently.

Mary's da Luigi - The Cantone Beach in Nerano has a great beach service, and there's also a nice restaurant. The Chef creates and combines first quality raw materials in an excellent way. Mrs. Mary, the owner, is always attentive to customers' needs, providing professional but informal service in a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere.
