This trail is excellent for those seeking a moderately challenging hike through the alpine meadows. Starting from Santa Maria Maggiore, the path takes you through beautiful woodlands, with blooming flowers during spring and spectacular foliage in autumn. Reaching the Alpe Cortino, you’ll enjoy sweeping views over the Valle Vigezzo and the surrounding Alps, a perfect spot for a picnic or a break to take in the scenery.

For this hike, take advantage of the funicular. These lifts carry you from Santa Maria Maggiore to the highlands of Piana di Vigezzo, offering spectacular views of the valley below. These trails provide exceptional panoramic views of Italy and Switzerland on clear days.
The funicular and chairlift operate primarily from May to September, depending on weather conditions. In winter, the area transforms into a popular skiing and snowboarding destination.
