The ExpertoItaly view

A Venetian address with room to pause above the rooftops

Bloom’s appeal is the balance between a useful central location and the pleasure of staying somewhere small and individual. You can walk out towards San Marco, cross the Accademia Bridge for the galleries of Dorsoduro, then return for a quiet hour on the shared rooftop terrace.

Known as Bloom & Settimo Cielo, the B&B occupies the former seat of the Scuola di Santo Stefano, a Venetian confraternity. Decorative fabrics, exposed beams and contrasting colours give the rooms their character; this is a good choice if you enjoy expressive interiors.

We would normally start with a Superior Double. The extra space is worthwhile over several nights, while the terrace gives everyone a place to sit outside. The practical trade-off is clear: there is no lift, and reaching the rooftop means more stairs.

Our starting point: three or four nights in a Superior Double within a wider holiday, with time for the main sights, a neighbourhood walk and an evening left free.

Planning your stay

Is Bloom right for you?

Best for

Culturally curious couples

A good base for couples who spend their days in churches, galleries and neighbourhoods, and want their accommodation to be part of the experience. The terrace also lends itself to an anniversary stay.

Atmosphere

Small, decorative and personal

Choose Bloom for individual rooms, breakfast and shared sitting spaces. It suits independent travellers who enjoy a B&B setting rather than the extensive facilities of a large hotel.

Access

Comfortable with stairs

There is no lift. Luggage assistance is available, but guests still need to manage the stairs themselves. We would suggest another property if step-free access is essential.

Stay length

Three or four nights to begin

This gives a useful Venice chapter within a longer route. A full week in one base also works for a deeper visit, with island trips and quieter neighbourhoods between the major sights.

Rooms

Choose the space and arrangement that suit you

Bedrooms are individually decorated, so colours, bathrooms and outlooks vary. We check the allocated room and floor before booking; the panoramic rooftop is shared, rather than a private terrace attached to every bedroom.

For a shorter stay

Charming Double · 20 m²

A queen-size bed and private bathroom for two guests. A sensible choice when most of your time will be spent exploring, and a smaller room suits your budget.

Our preferred category

Superior Double · 26 m²

More floor space, with a double or twin-bed arrangement and private bathroom. We favour this category for a longer stay or when two friends want separate beds.

For three travelling together

Superior Triple · 26 m²

A room for three within the same published floor area as the Superior Double. We confirm the third bed and available space. A cot or fourth bed is on request and needs a room-specific check.

Before we book

Tell us what matters in your room

Separate beds, a particular bathroom arrangement, fewer flights of stairs or a preferred outlook can change the best choice. Photographs illustrate individual rooms; they are not a promise of identical features throughout the category.

Morning

Breakfast at the B&B

Breakfast is served indoors. Terrace service may be possible on request when conditions allow; we would treat this as an option rather than a guaranteed daily arrangement.

Between visits

A seat above the city

The lounge and shared rooftop terrace are the main places to pause. Complimentary prosecco adds to the appeal of returning before dinner. Terrace access involves stairs and outdoor use depends on the weather.

Evening

Restaurants within walking distance

Plan to eat out for lunch and dinner, with restaurants around Santo Stefano and more choices across the Accademia Bridge. We can help match recommendations to your interests and daily route.

Location and getting around

Between San Marco and the Accademia

The address at San Marco 3470 places you beside Campo Santo Stefano, with cafés and restaurants close by. St Mark’s Square and Rialto are roughly ten minutes away on foot; La Fenice and the Accademia Bridge are nearby. Allow extra time for bridges, stops and the busier lanes.

Across the Accademia Bridge, Dorsoduro gives you a different day of galleries, churches and waterfront walks. Our guide to understanding Venice and Venice holiday ideas help you decide what to include.

Arrange the arrival, then explore without a car

From Santa Lucia station or Piazzale Roma, the B&B recommends vaporetto line 1 to Sant’Angelo, followed by a walk that includes a bridge. We can arrange private water transfers and explain the final walking route and luggage arrangements.

A car is unnecessary in Venice and cannot reach the B&B. For a driving holiday, collect it after your Venice stay or return it before arriving. A private boat transfer does not remove the stairs inside the building.

Where it fits

Add vineyards, another art city or the Dolomites

Bloom makes a useful Venice base at the beginning or end of a Northern Italy holiday. Choose one contrasting stay, then let the route and travel time determine the balance.

Historic architecture in Padova

Art & rail travel

Padova

Add Giotto’s Scrovegni Chapel, market squares and a lively university city. The rail connection makes this an easy combination; stay longer to explore the surrounding Veneto.

Mountains & summer walking

Alta Badia

Exchange city walking for mountain paths and village life. Allow a proper transfer day from Venice and choose dates around the walking season and mountain-lift operation.

Give each base enough time

For seven nights, we would usually choose one base. With ten to fourteen nights, two bases work well: three or four nights in Venice followed by a longer countryside or mountain stay. Add a third only when the route and your pace justify it.

For a longer journey, our Venice, Prosecco Hills & Lake Garda holiday shows how a carefully planned third base can work. We can adapt the accommodation and duration around you.
