The ExpertoItaly view

A hotel worth making time for

Ca Maria Adele is a particularly good choice when your Venice bedroom matters as much as your sightseeing plans. Its twelve-room scale, individual interiors and position beside Santa Maria della Salute suit a honeymoon, anniversary or a few indulgent nights within a longer Italian holiday.

The appeal is specific: arrive by water, explore Dorsoduro’s galleries, return for a pause in the lounge, then walk out for dinner. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection and Punta della Dogana are close by, so you can build days around art without crossing the city each morning.

We would choose the room before settling the rest of the stay. Sala dei Mori brings the canal and basilica into the outlook; Suite 339 adds a private terrace. The richer, more theatrical rooms suit travellers who actively enjoy that style. Views and outdoor space belong to particular rooms, not every booking.

Our starting point: three or four nights, a room chosen for your taste and private water transfers. Leave time for breakfast and the neighbourhood as well as the major sights.

Planning your stay

Is Ca Maria Adele right for you?

Best for

Couples with a reason to linger

Honeymoons, anniversaries and culturally curious couples who value a distinctive room and personal attention. Repeat visitors will appreciate the neighbourhood; first-time visitors can enjoy the same advantages.

Hotel style

Individual, richly decorated interiors

Silks, patterned walls, Murano glass and strong colours are part of the appeal. Deluxe rooms offer a quieter decorative approach. We show you the proposed room so that the choice feels personal.

Access

Comfortable with stairs

There is no lift. Rooms occupy different floors, and Venice adds bridges and boat boarding to the journey. Tell us about any mobility concerns before we recommend a room or arrange the arrival.

Pace and age

Three or four nights for two

The published minimum guest age is 16. This is primarily a couples’ stay. Three nights is a useful starting point; four leaves more room for galleries, neighbourhood walks and an unplanned afternoon.

Where the premium makes sense

Choose it for the bedroom, setting and small-hotel service. There is no swimming pool or full spa, and evenings generally mean dining out. If you mainly need somewhere to sleep between long sightseeing days, a simpler Venice base may be a better use of your budget.

Rooms and suites

Choose the room, not just the category

The differences are substantial: decoration, floor, outlook, bathroom layout and private outdoor space. We confirm those details for the actual room proposed, including a bath or shower preference. A canal view, balcony or terrace should never be assumed across the hotel.

Deluxe rooms

Beige damask, wood and Murano glass details give these rooms a softer character than the themed bedrooms. Our starting point if you like the hotel’s scale and location but prefer less dramatic decoration. Individual layouts and outlooks vary.

Blue Sala dei Mori bedroom at Ca Maria Adele
Sala dei Mori — blue interiors and a canal-facing balcony.

For the canal and the Salute

Sala dei Mori

Rich blue decoration and a small balcony above the canal, looking towards the statues of the Salute. One of our first choices when a visible connection with Venice outside the window matters. The balcony is not a large furnished terrace.

Red and gold Sala del Doge bedroom at Ca Maria Adele
Sala del Doge — the hotel’s theatrical red-and-gold style.

For an occasion

Sala del Doge

A richly decorated red-and-gold room for couples who positively enjoy elaborate Venetian interiors. Its strength is the atmosphere inside the room; choose it for that aesthetic rather than assuming a terrace or a particular canal panorama.

Suite 339 bedroom with golden damask walls
Suite 339 — the bedroom; the private terrace is its key extra.

For a private terrace

Suite 339

Our first room to investigate for a celebration where outdoor space is a priority. The suite has a private terrace looking towards the Salute’s domes, alongside a more understated bedroom. Confirm availability early if this is the feature you most want.

Suite Barena bedroom with pale green walls and exposed beams
Suite Barena — a different, lighter interior beneath old beams.

For a distinctive suite

Suite Barena

A third-floor suite with views reaching towards Giudecca and a chromotherapy whirlpool beside the bed. Choose it when the room and bathing arrangement appeal; it is a different proposition from Suite 339’s private terrace. The stairs deserve consideration.

Mini Palace rooftop terrace with cushioned seating
Mini Palace — a private terrace at a separate property.

For more independence

Mini Palace

A separate three-level apartment about 50 metres from Ca Maria Adele, with its own landing stage. The lounge is on the ground floor, the bedroom and main bathroom above, and the rooftop terrace higher still. We explain its access and service arrangements separately.

Other individual rooms

Themed rooms are a matter of taste

Sala Orientale has silk-covered walls and an original eighteenth-century Palladian floor. Sala del Camino centres on an Istrian-stone fireplace and a close canal setting; Sala Noire takes a darker decorative direction. We can compare these with your preferred room rather than treating them as interchangeable upgrades.

Morning

Breakfast at your pace

The hotel advertises à la carte breakfast from 08:00 until noon. It suits a leisurely start before the galleries or a walk along the waterfront. We make breakfast inclusion clear in your proposal and confirm any dietary requirements.

Between outings

Small spaces to settle into

The lounge and shared terrace give you places to read or have a drink, with outdoor use depending on the weather. The hotel offers light room service and a 24-hour concierge. There is no pool or full spa complex.

Evening

Make room for dinner out

The dining offer centres on breakfast and light meals rather than a full-service restaurant. Dorsoduro provides restaurants and bars within walking distance. We can help plan a particular dinner around your wider programme.

Location and getting around

Dorsoduro, beside Santa Maria della Salute

At Dorsoduro 111, Ca Maria Adele sits beside a small canal near the entrance to the Grand Canal. The Salute, Punta della Dogana and Peggy Guggenheim Collection make this a useful base for art and architecture. Walk towards the Zattere for a broader waterfront outlook, or towards the Accademia for Venetian painting.

San Marco is close across the water, but walking there means going round via the Accademia Bridge: allow roughly 25–30 minutes at an easy pace. The nearby Salute vaporetto stop gives a convenient alternative. Boat services, waiting time and your walking pace all affect the journey.

Read our Dorsoduro guide for the art and waterfront, or explore our Venice holiday ideas to plan the wider stay.

Arrive by water; explore without a car

A car has no role during your stay in historic Venice. We can arrange private water transfers from Marco Polo Airport or Santa Lucia railway station to the hotel’s landing stage, subject to conditions. Boat boarding and hotel stairs still need to be considered; a water taxi does not make the whole stay step-free.

For a driving holiday, collect the car after Venice or return it before arriving. We organise the change from road or rail to water transport as part of the route.

Where it fits

Add vineyards, the Dolomites or Lake Garda

Three or four nights at Ca Maria Adele can open or conclude a longer Northern Italy holiday. Choose one worthwhile contrast, then give the second stay enough time.

Vineyards and green slopes in the Prosecco Hills

Wine and countryside

The Prosecco Hills

Vineyard visits, small towns and countryside meals after Venice’s galleries. We choose the base around the evenings you want, then arrange transfers and tasting days so that driving is optional.

Mountains and summer walks

Alta Badia, the Dolomites

A change of scale: mountain villages, walks and long lunches after the city. The hotel and transfer route matter, as do the dates when lifts and local services operate.

Lake Garda and its lakeside scenery

Lake life and time to relax

Lake Garda

A longer lakeside stay adds boat trips, gardens and quieter afternoons. Rail can take you towards the southern lake; the final transfer depends on the hotel and shore you choose.

Give each place time

For a week, we generally favour one base; Venice can reward that time if you want a deeper cultural stay. For ten to fourteen nights, three or four nights here and a longer second stay usually work well. Add a third base only when the route earns it, with enough nights at each stop.

For a fuller journey, see our Venice, Prosecco Hills and Lake Garda holiday or 14-night Venice, Alta Badia and Arco itinerary. Both are starting points to adapt, rather than fixed programmes.
