ExpertoItaly opinion

A countryside base chosen for its pool, space and privacy

Villa Vanna is designed around uncomplicated villa days. The saltwater pool is the focus, while the broad garden, pergolas, terraces and outdoor kitchen provide several places to eat, read and spend time together.

All three bedrooms are on the ground floor and have private bathrooms, making the arrangement straightforward for three couples or a family travelling with grandparents. Ragusa, Modica and the coast are close enough for purposeful outings, but a car is essential.

Best for: families with older children or teenagers, three couples, or a small multigenerational group wanting privacy and generous outdoor living. It is less suitable for guests seeking a walkable base, a seafront setting, or a fenced pool for toddlers and uncertain swimmers.

  • Setting: countryside near Ragusa
  • Garden: approximately 2,000 m²
  • Villa: approximately 160 m²
  • Terraces: approximately 200 m²

Before you choose it

The principal planning decisions

Six guests in three private suites

Each bedroom has its own bathroom, so the villa works naturally for three couples as well as a family with older children or grandparents. The third bedroom can be prepared as a double or twin.

Outdoor living is the main attraction

The 14-metre pool, garden, pergolas, terraces and outdoor kitchen give the villa its character. This is a good choice when relaxed days at the property matter as much as sightseeing.

A car is essential

The nearest shops and restaurants are approximately 9 km away. Villa Vanna is a countryside driving base for Ragusa, the Baroque south-east and the coast, not a walkable village or resort stay.

Plan carefully around the pool

The saltwater pool measures 14 × 5 metres and is 1.50 metres deep throughout. No fence or shallow section is confirmed, so close supervision is important for young or uncertain swimmers.

Location

Between Ragusa, Donnafugata and the south-eastern coast

Villa Vanna sits in open countryside between Ragusa and the coast, placing Baroque towns and beach days within the same holiday. Ragusa Ibla is close enough for an evening walk and dinner, while Modica adds carved-stone streets, chocolate traditions and another rewarding day out.

In the other direction, Punta Secca and Marina di Ragusa bring the sea within easy driving distance. The villa is best used as a quiet private base: choose a small number of outings, return for late afternoons by the pool, and use the outdoor kitchen for evenings at home.

From the villa

Four south-eastern Sicily days worth planning

Villa Vanna works best when pool days are balanced with selected outings rather than constant driving. These ideas help place the villa within a wider family or couples’ holiday.

Baroque city

Give Ragusa time beyond the viewpoint

Ragusa Ibla rewards an unhurried visit through its lanes, gardens and churches, followed by dinner before the short drive back to the villa.

Plan your time in Ragusa

Baroque south-east

Choose between Modica, Scicli and Noto

Each town deserves time in its own right. Match the day to the group rather than trying to combine the whole Val di Noto into one rushed circuit.

Family journey

Place Ragusa within a wider road trip

For families, the villa can form the relaxed southern base of a route that also includes Catania, Syracuse or another part of Sicily.

Beyond the resort

Balance villa days with local experiences

Older children and teenagers often respond well to a rhythm of pool time, towns, food and the coast rather than a conventional resort programme.
