On one of Naples’ most attractive pedestrianised streets, you’ll find the charming Caruso Place boutique hotel. Originally built in the 18th century and the home of several aristocrats, it has been transformed into a smart hotel with a musical theme, driven by the owner’s love of opera and the fact that famous tenor Enrico Caruso was born in Naples. The opera theme runs through the building, both in the sounds and the decor.
The hotel’s 10 rooms vary from compact - more suitable for those travelling on their own or on very short visits - to large suites. The Classic and Superior rooms have a minimalist style, but with good-quality modern essentials, including well-appointed bathrooms with colour-therapy showers.
The suites are more lavish, some with balconies that look out to the Teatre San Carlo or over the street to the historic Galleria Umberto. Some suites have whirlpools in the bathrooms - the ideal way to wind down after a day of sightseeing.
The varied breakfast comes with a selection of Italian pastries, plus the typical continental offering, and eggs and coffee are made to order.
Later in the day, the hotel puts out wine and aperitifs for guests to enjoy before dinner. Plenty of delicious restaurants are nearby, serving Neapolitan cuisine, including its most famous export - pizza.
