Overview

With a prime position in Trani, one of Puglia’s most delightful seaside towns, you can live like the aristocracy at Maré Resort, a palazzo builtin 1761 and renovated in Neoclassical style in 1845. Home to the Duke of Telesio di Toritto, the 13 guest rooms are on the second floor, looking out over the town and elegant piazza that leads to the yacht-filled harbour.

Within moments, you can be walking by the sea, strolling through the historic town or visiting the cathedral with its striking 12-century floor mosaic. Lovely bars line the harbour, but there’s nowhere finer for a drink than the hotel’s own terrace, with sweeping views out to sea.

You don’t need a car to explore the region. The hotel has free bicycles for rides along the coast to sunbathe on the glorious Puglian beaches. Or book a taxi to visit the nearby historic seaside cities and towns.

Rooms

The 13 guest rooms have wood-beamed ceilings, marble bathrooms and a modern design feel, with areas of exposed brick and tiles showing the original structure. The classic rooms overlook the courtyard, while junior suites have a city view a double sofabed for an extra adult or two children.

To watch the boats bobbing in the marina as you relax in your room, book the Junior Suite Sea View. As a bonus, rooms come with complimentary mini-bars.

Dining

You’ll get sweeping views over Trani, the harbour and sea with meals, most of which are served on the hotel’s rooftop. The La Terrazza restaurant serves regional cuisine, with seafood, vegetarian and gluten-free options, and occasional live music nights.

You can have breakfast in bed or on the roof beneath the warm sun, always served with excellent Italian coffee. And for variety, you’re steps from Trani’s many excellent dining options, from simple trattoria to Michelin-starred restaurants.

Location

Trani, despite being off the beaten tourist routes of Puglia, reserves enchanting surprises and a visit to its historic centre enhances the appetite, ignites curiosity, satisfies sight and culture in one shot.

The town's beach is pebbly and coarse sand which guarantees a particular clarity of the water. The nearby beaches of Bisceglie are among the most beautiful on the coast. Here, the clear sand alternates with white pebbles.

From naturalistic excursions to cultural visits, the surroundings of Trani offer entertainment for all tastes.

Do not miss a visit to Barletta to admire the historic center and immerse yourself in the city nightlife.

Also not to be missed, it's a visit to Castel del Monte, as spectacular on the outside as it is exciting and rich in history and mystery inside.

With its beaches, the spa, the largest salt pans in Europe and the chance to spot pink flamingos, Margherita di Savoia is also worth a visit,

Not to mention the possibility of visiting ancient ruins, historical sites, museums, religious sites, natural parks and taking beautiful walks and cultural tours.
