Villa Profumo occupies a genuine frontline position on the Maddalena peninsula, with uninterrupted views across the Bay of Syracuse and private access to the rocks and sea approximately 50 metres away. The distinction matters: this is direct sea access, not a private sandy beach.
The villa combines its coastal position with polished contemporary interiors, a heated infinity pool and a separate heated whirlpool. Syracuse is approximately 7 km away, so cultural days in Ortigia and the Val di Noto can be balanced with long, unhurried hours at the villa.
Best for: an affluent family, two families who are comfortable with four double bedrooms, a multigenerational group, or four couples sharing a special stay. It is less suitable for guests who need twin rooms, step-free access or a sandy beach immediately outside.
The contemporary villa is set within approximately 1,500 m² of private garden.
The covered terrace keeps outdoor dining connected to the garden and Bay of Syracuse views.
Before you choose it
A private path leads to the rocky shoreline approximately 50 metres away. It gives confident swimmers immediate access to the sea, but it is not a private sandy beach and requires care with young children or less steady guests.
The heated infinity pool measures 8 × 5 metres and is only 0.90 metres deep throughout. It is excellent for relaxing in the water and enjoying the view, but it should not be presented as a deep swimming or diving pool.
All four bedrooms are documented as doubles and each has an en-suite bathroom. The arrangement works well for couples and compatible families, but no twin conversion is confirmed.
One restaurant is approximately 500 metres away, but shops and the wider choice in Syracuse are around 7 km away, so a car remains necessary. A €2,000 cash security deposit is payable on arrival.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Three ground-floor bedrooms
Three double bedrooms are on the ground floor, each with its own en-suite shower room. This keeps most of the accommodation on the principal living level and gives a multigenerational group useful privacy.
First-floor principal bedroom
The first floor has the principal double bedroom, with an en-suite bathroom containing both a bath and shower, plus a small terrace. A study is also on this level. The fifth bathroom is the ground-floor guest WC.
Time at the villa
The villa is at its best when the pool, whirlpool, terraces and direct sea access become part of the daily rhythm rather than simply a backdrop.
The 8 × 5 metre pool is open year-round and heated to approximately 26°C. Its uniform depth of 0.90 metres makes it best for cooling off and relaxing rather than diving.
The separate 2 × 2.60 metre whirlpool is heated to approximately 34°C and is available throughout the year, adding particular value outside the hottest summer weeks.
Furnished terraces, a veranda, gazebo and barbecue support long lunches and evening meals outside, with the Bay of Syracuse remaining present from the principal outdoor areas.
The contemporary kitchen has an induction hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, two fridges, freezer and both espresso and filter coffee makers.
A large ground-floor living room combines the lounge, piano, television and dining area. The first-floor study gives the group a quieter additional space away from the main room.
Three hours of daily cleaning cover the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. Midweek bath and pool towel changes, weekly bed linen and a local villa manager are also included.
Villa amenities
Location
Villa Profumo sits on the Maddalena peninsula, south of central Syracuse, in a frontline position facing the bay. The immediate coastline is rocky, while a sandy beach is approximately 400 metres away. The villa feels private without being isolated from the city.
A car makes the location work properly. Ortigia and Syracuse are around 7 km away, Noto is 34 km and Vendicari 45 km. The result is a coastal base that can support both villa days and purposeful excursions through the Val di Noto.

From the villa
Villa Profumo works best when sea and pool days are balanced with a small number of well-paced excursions. These guides help you separate the city, archaeology, Baroque towns and coast rather than forcing too much into one day.
Ortigia and the sea
Walk the island’s lanes, Piazza Duomo and sea walls, then stay for lunch or an early evening. Ortigia rewards unstructured time and should not be reduced to a quick stop between other sights.
Greek Syracuse
The Neapolis archaeological park and Paolo Orsi museum deserve their own half-day or day. Separating them from Ortigia creates a calmer rhythm and leaves more room to understand the city’s Greek foundations.
Baroque and coast
Noto can be combined with the coast when the pace remains relaxed. Choose one Vendicari entrance or one easy beach rather than trying to collect several stretches of shoreline in the same day.
Wider route
Ragusa, Modica and Scicli are possible day trips, but they become more rewarding when given proper time. For a longer Sicily holiday, a second base can reduce retracing and create more varied evenings.
