Begin with two nights on the Naples waterfront, then collect your hire car for a journey through Basilicata and Calabria. Four nights in Maratea lead to two near Rossano on the Ionian side, two in the Sila mountains and a final four on the coast near Tropea.

Naples: a waterfront start — 2 nights

A Superior Sea View room at the Royal Continental puts the Bay of Naples at the centre of your first two nights. Arrive by private airport transfer, settle in and take an evening walk along the waterfront beside Castel dell’Ovo.

Spend the following day exploring the city: the historic centre and its churches, the Duomo, or the streets around Piazza del Plebiscito. Return to the hotel for the sea views and, in summer, time at its rooftop seawater pool.

A boat outing reveals the small coves and rocky headlands along the coast. Finish with four nights at Midenza Seaside & Nature Retreat in Capo Vaticano, on the coast near Tropea. Its sea views, pool and beach setting give you time to settle into the final part of the holiday.

Explore Tropea’s old town for its lanes, restaurants and views towards Santa Maria dell’Isola, then return to Capo Vaticano for swimming and a quieter evening. Tono and Grotticelle are among the local beach options, and a boat outing along the coast is a rewarding way to see the coves.

The car is useful here: Midenza is outside Tropea town, so you can combine beach days with drives to places such as Pizzo or nearby villages. Keep the final days flexible enough to enjoy the hotel as well as the surrounding coast.
